1. Introduction

Bill Splitter (SplitApp) is built as a completely offline-first Android application. This service is provided at no initial cost and is designed to process all user data locally on your device.

2. Data Collection and Usage

We do NOT collect, store, or share any personal identity information, roommate profiles, group balances, or receipt images on external servers. All input variables, ledger files, group configurations, and calculations remain local to the app's secure sandbox directory.

3. Permissions

The application requires certain permissions to operate on-device features:

CAMERA: Optional permission requested strictly to scan physical receipt tickets via the built-in OCR engine. Receipt images are processed instantly on-device and are never uploaded.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Used to export and import database backups and to save generated PDF reports locally on the user's request.
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Utilized strictly for displaying on-device cached advertising banners. Core financial calculations remain 100% offline.

4. Advertising and Analytics

The application integrates the Google AdMob SDK to serve advertising banners. AdMob may access device IDs and standard network metadata strictly to request ad caches; however, no application activity metrics, balance ledgers, roommate names, or custom user entries are exposed to external brokers.

5. GDPR & US Privacy Frameworks

Because no personal data is collected or transmitted, rights concerning data access, correction, or deletion are fully managed by the user. To completely wipe all stored logs, you may simply clear the application storage or uninstall the app from your device settings.
